Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Florida Pro Chapter | Immediate Past President | August 2009-September 2018
Served two years as President of the SPJ Florida chapter from 2015-2017. I previously held the position of Vice President of membership for five years and Executive Vice President for one year. I assisted in programming, event planning, and other chapter-related socials where members and potential members can meet and network. I also helped in constructing journalism-related events that educate new, current, retired and/or professional journalists across Florida. The chapter won the SPJ National Chapter of the Year Award four times in the last decade — back-to-back years when I was president.

This committee tackles all issues related to diversity in media, including LGBT, people of color, disabilities, women, and others. Topics and issues include newsroom and outlet inclusion and coverage of diverse topics in media.
